Reception: Saturday August 25th, 6-9:30pm
Curator: Airom Bleicher
Bleicher Project spaces announces a debut exhibit for artist Susie Loucks. Loucks’s stunning photographs feature coastal birds frozen in flight, juxtaposing extreme movements against still backgrounds and emphasizing the anatomy and mechanics of a bird in mid-flight.
Focusing on the wild animal in motion can be a challenge, forcing the artist to spend innumerable hours photographing her untamed subjects. However, her determination to capture these birds in action yields high quality images, revealing the variety of forms they display as they live their lives in the air. The time Loucks spends photographing our natural world has allowed her to expand her knowledge, awareness and respect for the world we live in.
