“The panel will discuss the relationships between form, idea, abstraction, narrative, and what it means to be a thing in a place.”
– Shana Nys Dambrot
Bleicher Gallery is pleased to announce a panel discussion to mark the closing of Julia Schwartz’s solo exhibit The Hollow Sea. Psychoanalyst Judith Vida-Spence and critic Shana Nys Dambrot will open discussion from their unique areas of expertise.
A practicing psychoanalyst, Schwartz’s work has often been described as tapping into a deep part of the psyche, though she refrains from analysing her own work. ”Opening this dialogue between the art world and psychoanalysis is like having a conversation with the two parts of me, two parts that are usually in a wordless dialogue in the studio…”
